As all of you who actually read my blog know that Megha is sick; last night Anand made (I assisted and he is insisting that its the other way round) minced turkey soup. To say that it was yum is an understatement. Megha had been refusing food since Friday afternoon due to her high fever and was drinking only milk. last night was an attempt to get her to eat some soup.
Below would make quite a bit of soup, which you can freeze.
Ingredients:
Minced Turkey: 200 grams
Carrots: 1, cut into small pieces
Celery: 2 sticks, cut into small pieces
Onion: 1/2
Clove: 1
Bay leaf: 1/2
Cinnamon: 1/2 inch
Pepper powder
Ghee: 1 tbsp
garlic: 1 clove
Chicken broth: 1.5 liter
Method:
Heat ghee in pressure cooker and add clove, bayleaf and cinnamon followed by garlic. Saute for a few seconds and add onions. Once they turn translucent, add carrots and celery. Fry for a minute and add minced turkey. Stir and add chicken broth, pepper powder and perhaps some salt if the broth is unsalted.
Close the cooker and pressure cook for 5 whistles.
Remove and serve. Note that, its extremely nutritious! You can of course give directly on good days but when the tiny tots have fever, like Megha does right now, you might want to puree.
Megha still refused to eat even a spoonful yesterday but this afternoon and for dinner, she had a little bit...which means its tasty! Else she wouldnt have opened her mouth at all.
